Lyon is the administrative capital of the Rhône-Alpes region. The city is located in the south-east of France at the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône. Lyon is located about 320 km and 470 km from Marseille to Paris. This is the third town of France, after Paris and Marseille.
Situated at an altitude of 170 meters, the city is dominated by three hills : « Fourvière », « La Croix-Rousse » and « La Duchère ».
Old Lyon is located between the Saone and forms the medieval part of Lyon. It is divided into 3 parts: Saint-Georges to the south, St. John and St. Paul center in the north.
